Application deadline: 19 Feb.
Interviews: 2 March

Starting (training) date: 13 March

We’re expanding the Other Nature team and are offering one part-time (20h/week) position as Sex Educator/Shop Assistant with a focus on working at the front of shop (helping customers, unpacking orders, operating the cash register, other retail-related tasks).

As a worker’s collective, we are looking for a team-oriented person who would be interested in becoming a member of our Collective after a trial period and wants to work with us long term. Being in our infancy as a collective, our working structure is still in development, and we warmly welcome those who are inspired and excited to help shaping it. There will be opportunities in the long term to take on more hours, as well as different tasks.

We hope you’ll consider applying if you have a passion for sex education, working collaboratively, enjoy talking to people about sex all day long, are an extremely good listener, and also love to create nice displays, and clean!

We’re looking for someone who:
• Has strong communication skills in both English and German (Level C1 and above), spoken and written.
• Has customer service experience.
• Is reliable and available for regular weekly shifts (more info below) and would like to work with us long term for the next years.
• Is warm, friendly, and sensitive to the needs of others.
• Is self-reflective and can talk to people in a non-judgmental way.
• Has experience working within teams, especially collectives.
• Is open and receptive to feedback and continuing professional and team development.
• Has a deep commitment to the mission and vision of Other Nature, and is familiar with the work we do.

We ask people to please apply for this position only if they meet the criteria listed here. We genuinely appreciate that you want to work with us, but as our time and resources are limited, please wait until the right position for you opens up!
Please also note that, although our approach to retail at Other Nature is quite different from more “sales-oriented” stores, there is still a lot of daily housekeeping needed to make the shop look nice and feel cozy. So if mopping floors and emptying trash bins isn’t your vibe, then this might not be the job for you. Things can at times get pretty busy at Other Nature, so in this job it is beneficial if you can multi task, keep an overview and thrive in a buzzing shop atmosphere.

The position requires regular, weekly availabilities during our opening hours (12-19:00 Mon-Sat), as well as Wednesday mornings for weekly team meetings (9-11:00, usually over zoom). You must be available for 1-2 Saturday shifts per month, and, ideally, have some flexibility during the week. The standard weekly schedule would be 3-4 shifts per week that may be anytime between 12 - 19:30. Please indicate your availability on your application. If your availability does not match these shifts, you will not be considered for the position.

This is a salaried contract position, with a monthly gross (Brutto) starting income of 1109,40 €, paid holidays (6 weeks/18-24 days per year) and paid overtime (optional). All health and social insurance benefits apply. If you’re a student or otherwise employed/insured, we’re also open to discussing other possible employment forms.

Other Nature understands that the inclusivity of our work is only as broad as the positionalities reflected in our team. We especially welcome applications from BIPoC, trans-fem, femme-presenting, working-class, non-university-educated folks, and members of groups who often encounter systemic barriers to employment. If there are ways in which you identify that you would like us to take into consideration, please let us know on your application.

Please send your application to iwannawork@other-nature.de by Feb 19th 2023. If you already replied to our latest job posting in 2022, we ask you to please send in your application anew to indicate your ongoing interest and availablity.
