Home Parties & Info Sessions

Home parties provide an opportunity for you and your friends, or any self-organized group of people, to get together, learn, and talk openly in a comfortable environment. These types of gatherings have been around for a long time, but Other Nature home parties put a little twist on the old familiar...

Ever hear of a tupperware party? Well, a toy party is sorta like that. But instead of showing you convenient plastic lunch containers, we show you SEX TOYS! Oh my! Sounds like tons more fun, right?

We also now offer period parties for alternative and eco-friendly menstrual care products, as well as a programme called “The Fitting Room” for gender expression gear.

We take special care to tailor each party to your group's needs and wishes, so that you get to learn about the products that interest you most.

Unlike most mainstream home parties, we hold firm to a no-pressure sales ethic, and focus on giving you the best information we can in a fun, inclusive, non-judgmental way… whether you buy stuff or not!

We offer the following home parties and info sessions:

  1. Toy Parties

  2. Period Parties

  3. The Fitting Room

Toy Parties

An Other Nature toy party is a great way to celebrate special occasions, like a birthday or an upcoming marriage. It’s also a fun (and educational!) way to spend an evening with friends.

What will we talk about?

Well, that depends on you! When you request a toy party, we'll ask you to fill out a form which helps us prepare the products and knowledge which will most interest your group.

Are you keen to learn about strap-ons and dildos? No problem! Or maybe butt toys are more your thing. Just let us know. Our facilitators love talking about feminist porn and kink too, if that's where your passions lie.

Not sure what might strike your fancy? That's absolutely ok - we can also do a general sex toys 101 for curious beginners, or a 201...301...401... if you want to go beyond the basics.

Where does it happen?

You can host your toy party at your home, at Other Nature (after regular shop hours), or at an agreed upon third-party location.

Is there a minimum/maximum group size?

We'll do our best to accommodate your group.  However, our standard toy parties are for a maximum of 20 people (all of whom must be at least 18 years old), plus the facilitator.  For larger groups, please contact us to discuss alternative pricing.

Period Parties

Other Nature Period Parties provide an educational, body-positive and empowering orientation to the world of menstruation for tweens, teens and young adults.

More than just an info-session, our Period Parties are an open, friendly space in which to explore attitudes towards menstruation and encourage curiosity - however you might feel about your period.

What will we talk about?

- We’ll bust some of the common myths about periods, and look at the awesome ways that artists, writers and activists have taken inspiration from their menstruation!

- Forget euphemistic language and incomprehensible diagrams – in our Period Parties, you'll get accurate, clear information about what happens in the body during each stage of the menstrual cycle.

- You’ll get the low-down on a whole range of menstrual care options, to help you decide what suits you best (after all, it’s your body). We'll talk about the feelings and symptoms that can go along with periods, and discuss how you can take care of yourself.

- We’ll also look at some of the different ways people choose to connect with their periods – from learning about the lunar calendar to using menstrual tracking apps!

Who are Period Parties for?

Period parties are for anyone who wants to know more about periods and the menstrual cycle! This includes people who menstruate, have menstruated, or are likely to menstruate in the future, regardless of their gender.

Each party is tailored for your group, with age-appropriate content available for young people aged 10-25 (get in touch about events for other age groups).

Where does it happen?

You can host your Period Party at your home, at Other Nature (after regular shop hours, and only if everyone in the group is over 18 years old) or at an agreed upon third-party location.

Is there a minimum/maximum group size?

We'll do our best to accommodate your group. However, our standard Period Parties are for a maximum of 15 people, plus the facilitator.  For larger groups, please contact us to discuss possibilities.

The Fitting Room

“The Fitting Room” is a not-for-profit programme that runs evening info sessions designed to give trans and non-binary folks an opportunity to comfortably try on a range of gender expression gear.

With greater access to testing gear, participants can get a good feel for various products and also have enough time to get advice and share experiences in a non-pressurized setting.

The programme also helps participants make important purchasing decisions as easy, informed, and comfortable as possible.

Other Nature will also provide assistance for those who want to acquire gear from companies that don't wholesale to shops, and, when possible, financial support for folks who can‘t afford their gear.

What kinds of products will be available to try on?

The Fitting Room provides access to try-on demos and testers in a range of different sizes for various brands of chest binders, compression swimwear, packers, packing straps and underwear, stand-to-pee packers, breast pads, butt pads, and compression underwear (gaffs).

If you have special product requests, please let us know and we’ll do our best to acquire testers of particular items or brands for you.

Will all the gear be for sale?

Some of the gear will be available (new & unused!) for purchase at the end of the evening. However, the Fitting Room also provides try-on demos for products which are only available to buy directly from the manufacturer. We are happy to assist you with the purchase of any product you want to buy, whether or not we sell it at Other Nature.

Who is The Fitting Room programme for?

This programme is specifically for trans and non-binary individuals/groups who are interested in trying on and testing out gender expression gear. All Fitting Room facilitators also identify as trans or non-binary.

Cisgender folks are not necessarily excluded from participating in these info sessions. However, before extending the invitation to your cis friends, we ask that the host please check in with all trans and non-binary guests prior to the info session to ensure that there are no objections. This is simply to help create a safer space for all trans and non-binary attendees.

If you're not sure if this programme is for you, feel free to contact us with your questions and for further details.

Where does it happen?

The group‘s host is responsible for organizing the evening‘s info session location.

You can host your Fitting Room session at your home, at Other Nature (after regular shop hours, and only if everyone in the group is over 18 years old) or at an agreed upon third-party location, such as a community centre.

What special features does the host space need to have?

As the programme’s name suggests, the main thing that’s required is a fitting room, or any private room (eg office, bedroom or large washroom) that can be transformed into an adequate fitting room, equipped with a full-length mirror.

The host space must also have a washroom.

For hygiene reasons, there needs to be a sterilising station, consisting of running water, a gas or electric stove top, and 2 medium-large pots that can be used to boil tester gear.

If you would like to host a session outside of Berlin, please contact us to discuss possibilities.

Can Fitting Room gear be tried on at Other Nature during regular shop hours?

Only demos for items which Other Nature actually stocks are available to try on at the shop during opening hours.

Due to limited time and resources during regular hours of operation, it‘s not possible for Other Nature staff members to bring out and monitor the trying on of the full Fitting Room gear selection.

Is there a minimum/maximum Fitting Room session group size?

We'll do our best to accommodate your group. However, our standard Fitting Room sessions are for a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 people, plus the facilitator.

For smaller or larger groups, please contact us to discuss possibilities.

How much does a Fitting Room session cost?

The Fitting Room is a not-for-profit programme that Other Nature offers as part of our educational and community-driven mission. We ask only for a small honorarium for the facilitator’s time and efforts. For more specific details, please get in touch.

If you would like to support this programme, you can make a donation online or in-person at Other Nature. All donations are extremely appreciated, and go directly to the purchase of testing gear, the transportation and compensation of facilitators, as well as helping participants with the purchase of their gear, if needed.
