Toy Care & Cleaning

100% Silicone Toys

Clean with warm water and a mild, unscented soap. This gets the toy completely clean, because silicone is a non-porous, non-absorbent material. If you want to be extra sure that your toy is sterile, you can boil it about 5 minutes or put it in the dishwasher (top rack.) Keep in mind that many silicone toys aren’t compatible with silicone-based lubes. A water-based lube is a safer choice for your silicone toy.

TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer)

Clean with warm water and a mild, unscented soap.  TPE is skin-friendly and latex- and phthalate-free. TPE can be either non-porous or slightly porous, depending on the toy.  Water-based lube is generally recommended for TPE toys, but some are also compatible with silicone-based lube.  Read the info booklet that comes with your toy or just ask us!

Glass Toys

Clean with warm water and a mild, unscented soap. Like silicone, glass is non-porous and doesn’t leach chemicals into the body. All our glass toys are Pyrex quality, which is dishwasher safe and shatterproof. Nevertheless, don’t drop your glass toys on hard surfaces, as they may break. Before you use a glass toy, hold it up to the light to check for hairline fissures and cracks.

Stainless Steel and Brass Toys

Clean with warm water and a mild, unscented soap. Stainless steel and brass are non-porous, and retain temperatures well. If your toy is too cold, pop it in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes. And if it’s not cold enough for you, stick it in the fridge for a bit.

Hard Plastic Toys

Clean with warm water and a mild, unscented soap. If your toy has seams, make sure to clean them thoroughly, as bacteria can get trapped there more easily. Be careful not to drop hard plastic toys on hard surfaces, as this can significantly reduce their lifespan.

Electric Vibrators

Wipe clean with a warm, soapy cloth. To keep your vibe from overheating, don’t use it for more than about 20-30 minutes at a time, and let it cool down for a half hour between uses.

Rechargeable Vibrators

Make sure to charge your toy according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Rechargeable vibes sometimes require that you charge them fully and drain them fully a few times to maximize the rechargeable battery’s potential.

Battery Vibrators

Be careful not to get water in the battery compartment. Check whether or not your toy is waterproof before cleaning it. “Waterproof” toys can be fully submerged under water as long as the battery compartment is properly sealed. “Water-resistant” toys should not be submerged entirely. It’s a good idea to take the batteries out of your toy when you aren’t using it. This prevents the batteries from draining and/or leaking inside your toy. And for green’s sake, use rechargeable batteries (when possible)!

Vegan Leather and Rubber

Wipe clean with a damp, soapy cloth. Use a material-specific conditioner to keep your gear nicer for longer. Don’t dry your faux leather in direct heat, as this can cause it to crack.
